Doha’s Corniche will host a 5-kilometre fun run on 18 July organised by the Doha Runners Club to support Qatar Charity’s summer youth programmes.
July marks the start of a lighter training window after the peak heat, and residents have responded by filling registration lists for group events that meet early in the morning or after sunset. The pattern matches rising interest in organised outdoor activity across West Bay and Msheireb Downtown, where residents cite both health goals and the chance to meet neighbours.
Katara Cultural Village will stage a 3-kilometre charity walk on 25 July, with proceeds directed to the Qatar Red Crescent’s diabetes awareness fund. On the same weekend, Aspire Park launches its weekly Saturday group exercise circuit led by trainers from the Aspire Academy, open to all ages and free for park entry holders. Both venues sit within short taxi rides from central neighbourhoods, making them practical choices for commuters who finish work by 4 pm.
Registration data released by Doha Runners Club shows 820 participants completed the June edition of its monthly 10K, up from 610 in the same month last year. Entry fees for the July Corniche run stand at 60 Qatari riyals, with an early-bird rate of 45 riyals available until 15 July through the club’s website. The Katara walk charges 50 riyals, and all funds are tracked publicly on the Red Crescent portal within 48 hours of the event.
Participants can register online for the Corniche run or the Katara walk through the respective organiser sites, or pick up paper forms at the Aspire Park information desk between 8 am and noon. Runners are advised to carry identification and water bottles, as refill stations operate only at the start and finish lines. Those new to group events should arrive 30 minutes early for a short safety briefing led by volunteers at each venue.
Medical staff will be stationed at all three locations, and organisers recommend a pre-event check-up at any Hamad Medical Corporation clinic for anyone with existing conditions. Schedules and updated heat advisories appear each Thursday on the Doha Runners Club Instagram account and the Aspire Academy events page.
