Lusail city guide: Crescent Park, the Marina and Place Vendôme
North of Doha, the planned city of Lusail pairs a waterfront promenade and green parks with one of the region's most lavish shopping malls.
How we reported this

Rising just north of Doha, Lusail is Qatar's purpose-built city, planned from the ground up as a modern district of waterfront living, business towers and leisure. For visitors, it offers a mix of open green space, a lively marina and high-end shopping, and Qatar Tourism highlights it as one of the country's newest places to explore.
A good starting point is Crescent Park, a landscaped green space that gives the fast-growing city room to breathe, with walking paths and planted areas. Nearby, the Marina Promenade runs along the water and is designed for gentle strolling, with views of yachts and the surrounding towers, and it comes alive in the cooler evening hours.
The city's showpiece for shopping is Place Vendôme, a large mall known for its grand design, indoor canals and dancing fountains, alongside a wide range of international boutiques, restaurants and cafes. Lusail Boulevard, a broad landscaped avenue, adds further dining and entertainment and is a popular spot for an evening out.
Families have plenty to do as well. Al Maha Island, close to the marina, brings together rides, restaurants and seasonal events, while the indoor Meryal Waterpark offers a way to cool off away from the summer heat. Together these attractions make Lusail a full day out rather than a quick stop.
Getting to Lusail is straightforward. The Doha Metro Red line runs north to the city, and the Lusail Tram, which uses the same travel card, links districts across four lines and 25 stations; taxis and ride-hailing apps are also widely used. Costs come mainly from shopping, dining and activities, all priced in Qatari riyals.
As a young and still-developing city, Lusail continues to add new venues, so checking current opening hours and event listings through official channels is a sensible step before visiting.
